Job Club Services
What is the Job Club?
The Job Club brings together local unemployed people of all ages who are looking for work and ready to enter the workforce. Here, job seekers help and enourage each other to find work.
It provides a range of facilities and services to help Job Club participants return to employment.
It is free of charge and is available to clients of the Ballymun Job Centre who are Job Ready.
Under the expert guidance of the Job Club Co-ordinator and Job Club staff, you will receive training and support in developing your job seeking skills and the Job Club will provide you with the resources needed for an intensive search for work.
How does it work?
The Job Club provides access to a range of job search resources and facilities such as:
- A resource Centre
- Formal Training Sessions
- Support and Advice in Sourcing Jobs
Resource Centre
The Job Club can provide you with facilities to help you find work including the following:
- Access to computer and internet, typing and photocopying facilities.
- Assistance with developing Curriculum Vitaes
- Assistance in completing Application forms
- Browsing through the "Situations Vacant" sections of all national and local newspapers
- Access to telephone and fax facilities
Formal Training Sessions
The Formal training sessions will run daily over a 3 week period, and you will receive formal training in developing your job seeking skills. The areas covered will include:
- Introduction to the Job Club
- Interview Techniques, understanding the process.
- Difficult Interview questions and how to answer them
- Introduction to the Internet
- Creating Hot Mail accounts
- Curriculum Vitae Preparation
- Creating cover letters for Fax, Email and post
- Telephone Techniques
- Preparatory Interview with feedback
- Improving Self confidence and assertiveness
- Supervised Job Search
- Application forms
- On-line applications
- Attaching CV's to email
- Hygiene and Safety at work
- Recognising transferable skills
Support and Advice
The Job Club Co-ordinator and staff have a good knowledge of local business and will be able to discuss local work opportunities with you. They will also be able to steer you in the right direction towards a job suited to your skills and abilities.
You will have access to daily newspapers and other information directories that will help to secure you a job. It's a great support to anyone who is ready to look for work.
