SUPPORT TO EMPLOYERS

A key element of the work at the BJC is to build relationships with employers. The BJC provides a professional and free service to employers assisting them in recruitment of staff. Since its establishment in 1986 the BJC has developed relationships with a wide range of employers from small enterprises to large multinationals operating in a variety of different areas such as financial services, hospitality, health care, IT hardware and software, public, community and private. The BJC has over twenty years experience of working with employers in meeting their recruitment needs.

The BJC sets a high standard of quality in all its services including services it provides to employers. Employers use and re-use the BJC services because of the experience, professionalism of the staff and quality of the service provided.

The staff liaise with employers for the purpose of obtaining job orders, identifying needs and current employment opportunities and to assist employers with the selection of candidates and interview arrangements.  The BJC can supply CVs of suitable candidates within 24 hours of receiving a job order.  All candidates are screened before they are sent to employers for interview.

PARTNERSHIP WITH IKEA

Ballymun Job Centre continues to work closely with IKEA to maximise the job opportunities for local people. The aim is to ensure that the maximum number of local people, are made aware of employment opportunities, provided with detailed information on IKEA requirements, and supported in making an application.

The BJC organised for IKEA to meet with and make and receive presentations to and from a number of agencies on the support services and incentives available to employers. The BJC agreed with IKEA to use two direct phone numbers in the BJC as the telephone contact for all IKEA job advertisements during their pre store opening recruitment phase. In conjunction with the Department of Social Protection, details of the job opportunities were sent to 2,300 people in the area who were on the Live Register in Ballymun at the time. The BJC organised a series of workshops to support local people to apply for the various positions in IKEA. The workshops were of short duration (three hours) and included an input on the IKEA requirements for the different positions and an overview of the IKEA recruitment process. Between March and April 2009, 126 people attended the workshops. Local people interested in applying for a position in IKEA were given the opportunity to drop into the BJC and make an on-line application with assistance where needed.
